Reliable Sky Italy reporter Gianluca Di Marzio has provided the latest update on Darwin Nunez and the reported interest from Napoli.

The Uruguay striker’s future is one of the headline stories of the Liverpool summer transfer window, with his future set to play a massive role in the club’s transfer business in the coming months.

While the Reds have been busy in the transfer market to bring in new players, they are also paying attention to Nunez’s future.

Liverpool have put him up for sale at Arne Slot’s request.

9 to lead the line next season, so the Uruguayan, who scored just seven goals in all competitions last season, will have to be sold to accommodate the right profile Slot is looking for.

Nunez himself is keen on leaving for regular first-team football, and thankfully, he is not short of suitors.

Several clubs have made enquiries about taking him away from Anfield, including Atletico Madrid, AC Milan, Napoli, and a few Saudi Pro League clubs.

However, as things stand, it appears that Serie A champions Napoli are the most interested in signing him.

Antonio Conte’s side are said to be confident of landing Nunez in a cut-price deal that could fetch Liverpool £42m.

Earlier this week, a report from Alfredo Pedulla for Football Italia revealed that Napoli are encouraged in their early pursuit of the striker.

However, the latest report from Gianluca Di Marzio suggests that the Serie A champions and Liverpool are far apart in their evaluation of the player.

“Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez is believed to be open to a move to Napoli this summer,” the journalist revealed, before adding that “the Serie A champions have begun work towards a deal for the Uruguay international, but are not willing to pay Liverpool’s valuation of £59.8m (€70m).”
